"Venus, goddess of love that you are...

...surely the things I ask, can't be too great a task..."

to the chirping of Frankie Avalon, we turn to the living goddess, Venus, in her crazy comic book incarnation, circa late 1940s-early 1950s, as drawn by Bill Everett. These spacy, surrealistic tales were scanned from 1970s reprints, but they're just as wild as they were when they were first published nearly 60 years ago.

I wish Marvel would collect the Venus stories in one of those nice square bound hardcover Masterworks someday, all of Everett's early work demands closer examination, not just the Sub-Mariner stuff.

You never know. Maybe somebody who could do something about it has read your comment and thinks it's an outstanding idea. Pitching in my 2¢ worth I'd extend it to publishing solo books featuring the stories by Everett, Joe Maneely, Russ Heath, etc.

Yeah, the Venus tales are alot of fun.

And I second you on the collected Joe Maneely stuff. That would be great!
