Final Parade Of The Comics

I got a kick out of the comment for my previous posting from PARADE OF THE COMICS. I felt the same way! This 1966 collection of original panels from comic strips by members of the Newspaper Comics Council has 33 cartoonists x 3 cartoons each. When I was removing the background color--the book, printed on cheapest newsprint, had badly yellowed--and trying to square up the pages I thought the process would never be over.

But it is. I did it because there are drawings by deceased artists Schulz, Caniff, Gould, Capp, Starr and others, which had never been printed anywhere else. Unfortunately, there are no comics from King Features: No Blondie, Phantom, Mandrake, Prince Valiant, Flash Gordon, etc., popular in the '60s. Likewise nothing from NEA syndicate. No Alley Oop, for instance. So it was a select grouping, and I even left out some I didn't care for.

You can find the first two postings of PARADE OF THE COMICS here and here.

Thank you for posting this. Unfortunately, seven pages seem to be missing: poc-027 and poc-077 thru poc-082. Backcover would also be neat to round the thing up...
