Known to science fiction fandom as "SaM", Sam Moskowitz was a biographer and historian of the science fiction field. His book, Explorers of the Infinite, Shapers of Science Fiction, is a collection of these biographies, such as this one on A. Merritt. My copy of the bio, scanned here, is from Satellite Science Fiction, April 1959.
Moskowitz died in 1997.
