Boxed set from Japan

I found this boxed set of kids' books at a library sale. I don't read Japanese so don't know who the character is. The books are printed like books for very young children, on laminated boards. These are the five covers, the box top, and the contents of number 1. To the Eyeball the contents don't seem very childlike, but maybe the Japanese are more into kickings and shootings for their toddlers. If you want to see them full-size just click the pics.
