With all due Modesty...
Peter O'Donnell, author of the British Modesty Blaise comic strips and novels, was born in 1920. As far as I can tell from my quick research on the Internet he is still alive at age 88.
COMIC MEDIA, a British fanzine, published this excellent interview with O'Donnell in 1973, when he was just approaching his mid-50s, and still going strong with various projects.
Some of the reproduction of the artwork is not the greatest; the fanzine wasn't produced with the highest standards, but is still a good source of information. If you haven't seen Modesty Blaise before, you might be inspired to look up the reprint books that are still available. Modesty ended her career as a comic strip heroine in 2001.
